Maui bed and breakfast, upcountry cottages and suites offer a central location in a shady, quiet retreat. Close, yet wonderfully removed from Maui's hotel / resort beachfront crowds, the banyan bed and breakfast simply overflows with peace and Hawaii-ana. Giant banyan, monkeypod and jacaranda trees create a peaceful, shady oasis amidst the fruit trees, flowers and sunny, wide open lawns. Several swings and hammocks hang from the trees offering comfortable private places around our 2 acre property. Our 50' swimming pool and Jacuzzi is for the private use of our guests. A continental breakfast featuring fresh fruit, muffin and juice is served every morning.

The historic plantation property is also known as the "Banyan Tree House" and was originally built in 1927. Our holiday accommodations include the historic plantation house with three large bedrooms/ suites as well as four individual, spacious cottages.   Ideal for groups and retreats the 700 sq. ft. yoga and meditation studio is fully equipped with props and audio/ video systems.  Our 2.5 acre property has 7 rental units including the 3 bedroom plantation house which has a spacious living room area, huge kitchen, dining room and game lanai.  Ginger Cottage has recently been designed and renovated to be a comfortable accommodation for guests requiring wheel chair access and their caregiver.  With 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 entrances separated by a generous kitchenette, Ginger Cottage is ideal for guests traveling with handicapped individuals.

Upcountry Maui is often a surprise to first time Maui visitors who often assume that the island is little more than hot sandy beaches and tropical jungle.  Usually sunny, upcountry also will receive a few minutes of cooling showers most days.  The resulting pleasant freshness of upcountry Maui is a secret you'll be pleased to have discovered.

Although Upcountry Maui is close to the airport, Kahului, the North Shore beaches and north coast jungles it is high enough up the slope to be in a region of it's own.  Stretching from Haiku through Makawao and Pukalani to Kula, Maui's upcountry is a quieter and more temperate side of island life.  The unique blend of old time Hawaii with modern schools and residences weave through the pineapple plantations, sprawling ranches,  breath taking ocean and island views,  jungles and forests that make up the landscape of up country Maui.

The Banyan Bed and Breakfast welcomes all people of all ages.  Children are definitely welcome here!

Kahului with Maui's main airport (OGG), and major shopping centers, is about a 20 minute drive away.  Kihei and the ever popular south shore are 40 minutes away.  Lahaina and Ka'anapali are an hour away.

    
Banyan Bed and Breakfast Inn has an ideal central location for touring Maui.  Just across a pineapple field is the historic cowboy town and favorite local hangout of Makawao.  Shops, restaurants, art galleries, food and health stores, spas, library and more can all be found in this friendly little town.  Also 7 miles down the hillside from the Banyan B&B is the small, historic sugar town of Paia.  Internationally famous for the North Shore surfing and windsurfing, Paia town is central to Ho'okipa, Spreklesville and Baldwin beaches.

Haleakala National Park is an hour's drive up the mountain. 
 A fantastic place to go for a day of hiking or even  just to watch the widely acclaimed sunrises and sunsets!

A taste of the old, real Hawaii can still be found in heavenly Hana;  just an hour and a half away from our peaceful bed 'n breakfast, down a famous twisting jungle road dotted with breathtaking views, jungles and waterfalls.  Another half hour past Hana is the Kipahulu area and the ocean side of Haleakala park.

is just outside of Makawao town, less than 10 minutes from Paia and the North shore beaches. 
Haleakala Park is about an hour up the mountain.  Haiku, Pukalani, Kula and HaliiMaile are all close by in Maui's upcountry area.
